In my opinion, the best thing you could do for your dog is to leave him in France with friends.
It is a long involved and costly process to get your dog there and safety could well be an issue. I think the quarantine period is also quite long and you may leave before the dog gets in
There was a lot of information regarding taking pets to bali on the Bali Expat site.

Hi Charlotte. There are no dogs being allowed into Bali indefinitely. The process was actually very easy, just two weeks in quarantine, but that has now stopped. Cosmo is right...leave your dog there..there are many pet shops here if you need to replace it, but honestly it would be hard, would you be coming to a house? If no there are no hotels that would allow a dog. I had to leave my baby shitzu behind, but we have got a new one here.

Had to leave my big hairy Briard with good friends before I moved to Indonesia three years ago. Not only cause of the process of importing a dog but also the huge temperature difference which probably would have killed him anyway. Got Hendrick now, a genuine German bulldozer

Don't take your dog to Bali. To me, being an animal lover, that would be a very cruel thing to do. Plus, if you get him there and you guys don't last, you wont be able to take him back.

I'd not do it. I wouldn't take any animals over there.

Cheers

Lisa
