ARC cosmetic clinic
      #275104 - Sat Feb 28 2009 03:55 AM

ARC cosmetic clinic in Bali. Another dodgy Bali biz?
On a recent trip I booked in for an eyelid operation at ARC Clinic in Kuta. A local friend told me to check with the Bali health Dept about the doctors there . The Health Department showed me a letter sent to ARC clinic last year and said that they had warned ARC Clinic last year that none of the doctors there was competent or registered to do eyelid type surgery or any surgery. Turns out that the docs there are just a GP and a dermatologist both of who are locally trained despite what u read on their website that says "our western trained cosmetic consultant doctors" Watch out!

why would you think of having eyelid surgery in bali in the first place? it wouldn't be near the top of my list of things to do.
are you talking about botox?

I don't know. there are plenty of people extremely happy with the work they had done at ARC.
I'm always of the mind that budget should not be a word you consider when having any surgery , minor or otherwise, but I think ARC and BIMC are competent enough to do botox and fillers according to their happy customers.
However , eyelid surgery or any facial reconstruction I would have done at home regardless of the cost.
Yes, I never say never and I have looked at ads, just haven't succumbed.

I agree would never have any kind of surgery done in Bali. Also if things went wrong what come back have you got. Get private cover and have it done here.

You read and see on the box so many bad stories about cosmetic surgery gone wrong, Bali is a place to relax and enjoy not to commit to dis figuration by amateurs

I guess when you are on holidays you sometimes do spur of the moment things that you wouldn't do back home. You think " I'll have a bit of work done while on hols and recover beside the pool."..better than taking time off work back home etc. The point is that at least I did the research and found out. If they were misrepresenting about training, what else is going on.
No. it's not botox. It was a thread lift thing and removing loose skin and fat from the upper eyelid.

I have plenty of good stories about Bali. I first went there in 1975....I'm not saying it was better then but it was different. Most of the problems in Bali are related to western exploitation. Places like ARC clinic are nominally owned by Indonesians but are really financed and marketed by foreigners.

i am sure you can get this type of surgery done anywhere in the world and bali is no different.
bali is not known for, and never has been, a place to get this type of surgery done.
i would be steering clear.

I go there for ipl sometimes and have heard some very heated arguments with customers. One man threatening to kill for what they had done to his wife...I didn't see what it was tho! Honestly...stick to stuff like botox and fillers if you feel the need but not surg. Even BIMC doesn't offer surgery.

Cosmo,

Love my ped egg and really love the nail shaper attachment stuff I bought with it. Does a really professional job! Trouble is, they don't sell replacements - sigh.
You can also buy the Chinese version on ebay.

I have considered getting botox or a filler at the ARC clinic in Bali. I was going to get it last year but I spent a week in Bangkok before Bali and had it done in a clinic in MBK shopping centre. The place was beautiful and all of the little nurses were immaculate and wore white.
I had my furrow done (the frown line between your eyebrows) and the "doctor" said it takes a week to work. It Cost 120AUD took a week to work then lasted 2 weeks. It literally stopped working on my flight back from Bali to Melbourne.
Now I go to Botox parties (I have been twice) and it cost around 140 for the furrow and I know it will last.

I heard of a poor dear in Thailand whose face lift was so overdone that she ended up with a goatee.
Cosmetic surgery is a cut throat business...

i got the ped egg copy for $6 from a cheap and cheerful shop. the, "as seen on tv" sign attracted me. the bloke that lives here, says it is fantastic, but i think it is just average.
after having my feet scraped clean by a pedicure, i expected the same.
ped egg, ped egg, ped egg. i just love how that sounds.

Bangkok for cosmetic surgery stuff? Botox and fillers ok I guess. I had a friend who was booked into Bumrungrad hospital in Bangkok for a face lift. It has a really good name and has US trained plastic surgeons. She was met at the airport by "hospital staff" and basically "shanghaied" to another inferior hospital. She reported it to Bumrungrad hospital and they admitted there was a problem with staff being bribed to reveal overseas patient details to owners of other hospitals.

Now that sounds like the place to go for my bot bot lift.
Not that I need it.
With a name like that, BUMRUNgrad, they should specialize in gastro intestinal problems.
