Hasn't Peanuts just reopened after major revamp?
May be they are on again. Not for this little black duck I'm afraid.

yes they have had renovations but out of curiousity sms a friend who is a musician in Bali he said that Peanuts are very quiet and seems to think that there isnt "peanuts pub crawl" so maybe they count the numbers if enough numbers for that night then they operate the "pub crawl"

Crikey bloke, it doesn't look anything like the inside of the Angels clubhouse. But it is drug free and the drinks are cheap.
It's a safe place to park the Harley at night and the boss is an absolute gentleman. The hookers aren't the crotch grabbing skanks that litter the the bars down further.
The place will never turn a million bucks again cos they won't sell drugs there. Hence the bigger posher clubs further down the street get all the kids in.
Me, i prefer Peanuts, because it's got character and always has done.
So where you got the Gestapo comment from defeats me.

I'm offended by your comments and i'm sure Kylie will be as well, as we are both fond of the owner and staff.

Hi Paul & Kylie, hope you had a great Easter.

I am not too sure as why you would be offended at my description of the new peanuts club..

First, I'll have to say that I used to ride a Harley and I am one of many people who also frequented the peanuts Club in the eighties and it is not an attack on any bike riders.

My opinion regarding the new building, was simply to say that it is no architectural Marvel, with a bit of humour and obviously not welcomed by all, but then you cannot please everyone.

But if you would like an explaination on where the gestapo comments comes from, is that they have an eagle on the building and the three WWII cars in front of the building and all painted in Black and Red, which I found quite amusing.

And as for the hookers and drugs I would'nt know as this is not one of the things that I go looking for, when in Bali and a matter of fact, I did'nt even know they were there..

And last, I do not recall telling people not to go the Peanuts Club, but I was only stating my opinion on the new building and I am sure is not the opinion of everyone.

Alex

Be lovely to read for any parents thinking of taking their teenage children to Bali.

Firstly, Alex i'm sorry for getting on my soapbox over this post, i was a little over the top before.

Sorry Pete, but we're all aware of the drugs side of the nightlife there and how the dealers prey on the kids. Mate i'd rather tell them the truth than gloss over that side of it. I see the results all too often. I realise that the problem is the same the world over Pete, but i'm only mentioning Bali as this is a Bali forum.

As for the prostitutes in the clubs, I believe The Rotary Club of Ubud is addressing a number of issues including health education through it's AIDS/HIV Program.

Look forward to catching up for an ale in paradise Pete,

Love to the family,

Paul & Ky

Leaving Mum with the baby sitter, don't think she'd fit in at the Dynasty Kids Klub.
Don't know about schedule but will be in Klungkung and around and around om swasti astuing.
Next time.

Besides, on the honeymoon you should stay close to the bear cave only venturing out for kopi ginseng, extra joss and Kuku Bima

Now there's a blast from the past, JAMU !!. Many many moons ago i was on Bali on a business trip and was taken to a local Bar by an expat. The then wife and I were given a shocking brew containing many herbs and spices by the Bar / Brothelkeeper. It had the colour and consistency of mud and was served with wild honey to get rid of the taste. We got back to our hotel and started feeling very amorous, It turned us into sexual dynamos for a straight 24 hours, damm we were exhausted after the stuff wore off.

Jamu, like all traditional herbal medicines, can be used for a myriad of things.
Common to see Ibu Jamu in the morning or afternoon wandering around , basket on head, dishing it out.
You're right it tastes yucky but thats why you will get a lolly to go with it. "A spoonfull of sugar helps the medicine go down"
I like Temualawak or Sinom.
Ibu Jamu always has really good skin, and very cear eyes.

I remember the old Peanuts in the 80'S as a real fun place. The hit record at the time was the Straights album and that bl**dy Hawii 5'0 theme. Every time that played it you were stampeded by the young Japanese surfers rushing to the dance floor . . I remember a guy whom I asummed was the owner. Big big guy with a Texan hat & great big belt buckle, allways hung out in the top room. Glad to see the Bear & Alex can conduct themselfs in a orderly manner .
Alex if you like i have a short video taken by a Canadian tourist of a really nasty bear attack if you are interested
Cheers

Paul

I'll have to say that the peanuts Club had a profound effect on many people..

No hard feelings and I am looking forward to this beer in September.

As I mentoned, I was only describing the new building with a bit of humour and not the actual venue.

Like my taste in Art, I think that I did mentioned once that I am not a great fan of the paintings that you find around Kuta, such as the giant Buda head, but it's not to say that it is everyone's point of view.. On the contrary, if this is what they like, then they should buy it.. at the end it is what make you happy that counts..

You see, no one need to agree or have the same taste as Alex.. .. It would be a boring place if we all did..

My wife and Daughter as an example , do not agree with my taste in Music and I in turn do not agree with my Daughters "Rap Carp" but I am not about to be a dictator and forbid her from listening to her music..

Chairman Mao-Tse-Tung, tried this with the introduction of the people's uniform and we know how this ended ...

I am Gald that my old Peanuts friend "Fatherofnelson " mentioned that it was our old hunting ground in the eighties...:o

See you September..

Alex
